In a customer’s words: Why you need winter tires

If you live in a place that sees cold weather and snow in the winter, and you aren’t sure if you need winter tires, check out this TireBuyer customer’s review of the Bridgestone Blizzak DM-V2 winter tire. “MickMan” lives in Warsaw, Indiana and says Blizzaks are required equipment on all his vehicles.

Bridgestone Blizzak DM-V2 Review

“I’ve been over logical since I was in high school and have been dedicated to buying winter tires and doing what most irrational Americans do not do, which is have two sets of rims/tires for summer/winter. And since 2002 I’ve been using Bridgestone Blizzak versions for my vehicle and then for my second vehicle. Now I’ve leased two vehicles and you guessed it first thing to do is get those Blizzaks for each vehicle.

The Blizzaks will get you to work when others call off work, show up late, and whine about the scary snow the next day when they come in. I’ve plowed through a field with a little Nissan Sentra Se-R in over a foot of snow to get a trash can lid and guess what I didn’t get stuck at all – WOW! I even feel confident enough to pass people on one lane highways in icy/snowy conditions. I leave them in the snow dust with out sacrificing my safety or my family’s safety. If you see snow in your state it is worth the money – every dime.

And of course I looked for the best deal and found it here on Don’t think your Superman when its pure ice conditions. This year 2016, in pure sleet conditions on my way to work cars were over turned in yards off a highway and in ditches all over the place. Close to state of emergency conditions and all I did was have to take it a little easy with slight losses of traction at intersections while others were in extreme danger. I mean its only your life in these tin cans why wouldn’t you invest some money to be safer? I’ll never stray from any other winter tire than the Blizzaks, thank y-o-u Bridgestone.”

  1. 100% agree even in Des Moines, Iowa. Extra wheels allow easy change over and extend life of tires. I personally choose Firestone Winterforce on our FWD sedan and AWD SUV.
12 years ago first test was early November 12″ icy wet snow. Spouse driving FWD vehicle didn’t slip a tire. One trip to the ditch and towing makes expense for a set affordable. Both our sets have been changed off 6+ winters and still have 8/32 tread remaining.
