Let the Good Times Roll: Your Summer Road Trip Playlist

Handout photo of recording artist Bruce Springsteen is shown driving his 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air Convertible, referenced in his iconic song “Born to Run” which is up for auction and is expected to fetch several hundred thousand dollars

There’s something about road trips and rock ‘n’ roll that go together so perfectly. Like summer and convertibles. Backyards and barbecues. Keith Richards and Mick Jagger.

Rock ‘n’ roll would be nothing without its attitude – a laidback kind of cool that’s effortless and easy, with a bit of rule-breaking and rebellion. Everything a memorable summer should be.

“City traffic’s movin’ way too slow. Drop the pedal and go, go, go.”

That’s why we’ve put together the ultimate playlist of our favorite car/travel/summer songs.

Let’s start with the classics. No road trip playlist would be complete without one of our personal favorites, by Chuck Berry:

“Riding along in my automobile, my baby beside me at the wheel.”

Or something beachy from our favorite boys:

“She’s got a competition clutch with the four on the floor.
And she purrs like a kitten till the lake pipes roar.”

We’ve also included plenty of later-era tunes from some American rock icons: Bruce Springsteen, The Eagles, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Green Day and more.

“It was a beautiful day, the sun beat down, I had the radio on, I was drivin’.”

But we love our British bands equally well: The Beatles, The Stones, and the mighty Led Zep.

Plus listen to our favorite destination songs featuring California, New York, Las Vegas, Georgia, Alabama and more.

“These little town blues, are melting away.
I’m gonna make a brand new start of it, right there in old New York.”

So put the top down, crank the tunes up, let the road be your tour guide, and the rock ‘n’ roll be your summer soundtrack. Click here to listen to our Summer Raod Trip Playlist!
