In this series we introduce you to the tire and wheel experts who work on the TireBuyer customer sales and service teams, located in Kirkland, Washington and Huntersville, North Carolina.
Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephen Miller. If you’d like a little help finding the right tires, if you need assistance with your current tires, or if you just have a general question, give Stephen a call at (866) 961-8668!
How long have you been in the tire industry, and how’d you get your start?
I’ve been in the automotive industry for 25 years. I started out changing oil and installing tires at a local Pep Boys here in the Charlotte, North Carolina area. I then moved on to be a mechanic and started doing more of the light to medium repairs and maintenance on vehicles, all the while going to school to learn automotive theory and operation. After graduation, I went to work at a Toyota dealership as a technician, doing everything from light repair to engine/transmission overhauls. As the years went by, I decided to take a management role at an independent retail tire store. The rest, as they say, is history. I’ve been managing retail tire and repair shops for the better part of 15 years. When the opportunity came about with TireBuyer, I jumped at the chance to learn the ecommerce world, which I believe, is the future of the way consumers buy. I was pleasantly surprised at the level of knowledge and resources all of the TireBuyer employees have! I couldn’t be happier working for TireBuyer – it’s easy to have a website and sell items, but the people behind the scenes are what make the company thrive!
What do you enjoy most about your job at TireBuyer?
I love solving problems and helping fix things, but I can’t do it alone. The team at TireBuyer is full of talented visionaries with one common goal…serve the customer! I enjoy the daily challenges the job brings to ensure our customers have the best experience possible. The job also lets me talk to people from all over this great nation of ours!
What do you like to do in your free time?
I am a semi-professional musician. I play drums in a cover band here in the Carolinas. We play a bit of everything from rock to some newer country music. Apart from that, being a dad to twin girls takes up the majority of any free time left. I do binge-watch some TV on occasion, my favorite shows being The Big Bang Theory and The Walking Dead.
What’s in your dream garage?
Very tough question for me to answer, but if forced to choose, I’d say an Aston Martin Vanquish and the most tricked-out Toyota pickup money could buy J
Fun fact/tips about tires:
ALWAYS, ALWAYS go by the manufacturer’s recommendation on tire inflation, load and speed rating. Car manufacturers spend a lot of time and money to ensure your car rides well, handles properly, and most importantly, is SAFE! These recommendations are easily found, on most vehicles, in the driver’s side door jamb. There you will find all the information you need to ensure you are getting the proper tire size, load range, speed rating and what the proper inflation is for your car. Under-inflation is the #1 cause of premature tire wear and tire failure!
